7 ways to stay warm this winter

the pleasures of pairing wine & food

Many of us, it goes without saying, love to experience delicious meals. Others savor the intricacies of delectable wine. And, there's a wonderful pleasure to be had by combining the two into magical combinations that enhance each other and bring your culinary experience to a higher level. But some feel that wine and food pairing is an intimidating task. We want to dispel that thought.

now you're cooking with wine

We at PoshPorts love wine. We love to drink it, share it, talk about it, and yes, even cook with it. But sometimes it can be a challenge to find the right wine for the right recipe. Some recipes make it absolutely simple saying only use red or white wine as your ingredient. We think that is generally fine, but there is one rule that we'd generally adhere to: if you wouldn't drink it outside of the food you're cooking, don't put it into the food you are cooking.

france's champagne region

While a trip to Paris is enough to fill many days with wonderful sights and sounds if you find yourself looking to get outside the city and explore, and you love sparkling wine, the Champagne region is a just quick train ride away. The TGV is an efficient way to travel around Europe. The trains are fast (like 200mph fast), clean and comfortable. The train can get you from Paris to Reims in less than an hour.

niagara on the lake - ontario, canada

After deciding to visit a friend who had recently moved to Toronto we decided to embark on a car trip to Canada from Chicago. We thought the trip would be fun and we could stop and visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cinncinati as well as the always popular Niagara Falls. As many people know the Niagara Falls has been a honeymoon destination for many, many years.

Upon planning our trip my friend in Toronto told us about Niagara On the Lake (NOTL) and told us we shouldn’t miss it. Since we had never been to Niagara Falls let alone NOTL, the researching began.

australian wines

What a wonderful way to spend an evening at the Metropolitan Club in Chicago at the top of the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower. Dan Killey from the Grateful Palate was in for Cellar Night to share and educate us about some of the Grateful Palate's delicious Australian wines.
