Vienna: The Art of Enjoyment

We were invited to the Austrian Celebration last night in at the Loft on Lake in Chicago. We loved Vienna the last time we visited so we couldn't wait to see what they had in store for us. Austrian strings sweetly playing welcomed us into the event. Then we moved on to sampling some delicious Austrian wines and beer while tasting some Austrian delicacies such as linzer torte. Did you know Austria is becoming well-known for the quality of its local wines? We tried reds, whites and a lovely ice wine, all of which were delicious. The Steigl beer was crisp and clean as well. The event was sponsored by the Austrian Tourist Office, Vienna Tourist Board, Vienna Convention Bureau and Austrian Airlines. We had the chance to reminisce with several representatives about our last trip to Vienna and our hopes of returning soon.

What we didn't know was that Austrian Airlines was going to make several exciting announcements. First, they announced that they would be adding a direct flight to their schedules from Vienna to Chicago starting in May. To make that even better they have upgraded their planes and added flat-bed seating to their business class section. They had the actual seats on display so we got to experience them first hand. They are marvelous! Comfortable seating with many adjustments including in-seat massager, new 17" display entertainment screens (the largest in the industry!), USB ports, electric outlets with built-in international adapters, and handy storage bins for your personal items all will make your traveling experience one to remember.

If you're considering a trip to Europe this year you must include Austria in your plans. Beautiful countrysides, amazing architecture, plentiful history and art museums all make Vienna a perfect hub for your visit to Austria. Less than two hours out of the city you can visit vineyards and smaller cities that are all charming and welcoming.

The Austria people certainly embody the "art of enjoyment" in all they do. You will immediately feel welcome and comfortable where ever you roam in Austria. Be sure to spend some time in one of their many coffee houses. Here you can mix with the locals enjoying your coffee and conversation. Be sure to try the legendary Viennese Sacher Torte and take some home for your friends and family.
