New Year - New Travel
We're sure that everyone is making their travel lists for 2013. So many new exciting places to visit and learn about. Before you make your final plans we have a few tips to make your trips even more special.
Consider looking at your destination through a different set of eyes or new perspective
We've been to Paris several times (and hope to visit many more). Try looking for a hotel that has a view. We stayed at the Hotel Raphael and they have a spectacular rooftop terrace where you can enjoy lunch or dinner with a panoramic view of the city. This is just one example there's plenty of other hotels and locations to get a unique view of the city.
Everyone goes to the Lourve - which is one of the most amazing museums in the world. But how about trying the Musee Rodin or the Musee de l'Orangerie. At the Musee Rodin you can enjoy a peaceful walk through the lovely gardens and enjoy Rodin's sculptures. The Musee de l'Orangerie you can explore the museum that Monet himself designed to house his larger than life studies from his gardens in Giverny. He dedicated this museum as a gift to modern man with his "overworked nerves". It also includes the ean Walter and Paul Guillaume Collection, which features masterpieces from Cezanne, Renoir, Picasso, Rousseau, Matisse, Derain, Modigliani and many more artists.
Try another form of transportation once you're there
We recently had a killer trip in Turkey. There was so much to do, see, eat and drink. Some of the highlights of the trip were two boat trips we took. In Instanbul we book a cruise on the Bosphorus River. There are plenty of options to cruise for just an hour or all day. It's a leisurely way to relax and see the beautiful shorelines of both Asia and Europe along the way.
We also sailed a gulet, or wooden boat, on the Aegean Sea. We opted to go out for a full day - which was a wonderful. We enjoyed the day sailing, swimming and eating a wonderful fresh fish lunch cooked by our crew. These gulet's are plentiful and available for a week, several days or several hours. They accomodate 2 to large crowds so decide which one might work best for you.
Hot air ballooning was another activity we had never done before but were told not to miss when in Cappadocia - so we did it and were delighted. It wasn't scary at all, but peaceful and a beautiful way to see the unique landscape of the area.
Enjoy the nature of your destination
If you love nature at home why not enjoy it on your next trip. On a trip to Singapore we discovered the Jurong Bird Park and the Night Safari. It was by far one of the most beautiful bird parks in the world. Kuala Lumpur also has an amazing bird park that is well worth the visit. Whether it's a zoo or animal santuary be sure to check out what your destination has to offer and add it to your itinerary.
So our first travel tip for 2013: Try something new. Even your favorite "old haunts" will take on a new excitement when you revisit them with a fresh approach. Bon Voyage!
