Is It Too Early for Holiday Music?

It's that time of year again when department stores and certain radio stations fire up the holiday music. Some of us cringe and want to wait until after Thanksgiving to hear our holiday favorites while others can't wait to break them out right after Halloween. Whatever your preference we're sure you'll find something that brightens your mood, has you making hot chocolate and doing some holiday decorating. Here are a few of our favorites for you.

Susan Boyle, Home for Christmas. This will no doubt become a classic holiday album in no time at all. Her popularity and her crystal clear singing voice make Susan Boyle's a voice for the people. She masters the classics as well as a few new tunes. Duets with Elvis and Johnny Mathis are beautifully arranged and executed.

Kelly Clarkson, Wrapped In Red. The former American Idol proves once again that she can belt out any type of song. Her jazzy rendition of Baby It's Cold Outside and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas are wonderful classics "she made her own." Her covers of pop holiday classics are also fun and provide a great backdrop for any holiday gathering.

Mary J. Blige, A Mary Christmas. On her first holiday album, Mary teams with big-time producer David Foster to create this soulful, wonderful holiday soundtrack. This one will definitely be in your everyday holiday rotation. Songs with Barbra Streisand, Jessie J and Mark Anthony are a bonus prize. One of our favorites this season.

David Ian, Vintage Christmas Wonderland. If you like jazz you'll want to check out this 5-song EP by David Ian. His 2011 Vintage Christmas album was a huge success and is now almost impossible to get. Other-worldly vocals from Acacia are perfect for these holiday selections.  This is great music to listen to while wrapping presents or just sitting by the fire and unwinding.

Duck The Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas. Yes, the family behind Duck Dynasty has released this album of holiday classics. Since they were raised singing in church it shouldn't be shocking to see this release. But, yet...it is. Alison Krauss, George Strait, Josh Turner and Luke Bryan are featured guests. Go to Spotify and give it a listen, you know you're gonna. You be the judge.

These are just a few of the latest holiday music releases. If you're not even thinking about holiday music yet give one of these a quick listen and you'll be humming your favorite holiday song before you know it. Happy listening!
