5 Crazy Bacon Oddities & Recipes


We know it's turkey time and even we've shared our obligatory turkey recipes. If you're tired of talking turkey, we've got a treat for you. Bacon. Yes we said bacon. Everyone loves bacon and there does not seem to be any reasonable explanation as to why. We're not going to buck the system so our inner lemmings are happy to share some interesting bacon oddities and some great bacon recipes.


Bacon Explosion

This is not your mother's meatloaf with 3 strips of bacon draped over the top. This takes the bacon layering to a basket-weaving new level. Check out BBQAddicts.com for the recipe complete with video instructions. Sausage wrapped in a bacon basket! Of course you can use the same idea and wrap a meatloaf or any other meat you desire. Bacon Chocolate

On our recent trip to Belgium we sampled many fine chocolates. Our Belgian friends at The Chocolate Line in Bruges had a very large selection of fine chocolate. We, of course, couldn't help but notice the chocolates emblazoned with the pink pig and word BACON proudly printed on each chocolate. Not a new idea but it was still very yummy. The wonderful taste of smooth Belgian milk chocolate with crispy, salty bacon. Mmmmm!


Bacon Martinis

There are several bacon-flavored vodkas on the market. They all can be used to create tasty bacon-y cocktails.


1 oz. Bacon flavored vodka

Ice Cubes

Add vodka and ice to shaker. Shake vigorously.

Pour into ice cold martini glass. Garnish with one crispy slice of bacon or rim the glass with crushed bacon bits.


Chocolate Bacontini

Same recipe as above, but add 1 oz. Godiva Chocolate Liquor.

Garnish glass with chocolate syrup.
