Summer's not over quite yet. There's still plenty of time to hit the road and have fun at some wonderful food festivals. Here's a list of just 10 to get you started.

Bordeaux Wine Festival

1. The Bordeaux Wine Festival in Québec City, Canada  August 29 - September 1

2. 10th Anniversary A Taste of West Cork Food Festival, Skibbereen, Ireland  September 6 - 15

3. Vermont Stinks: Southern Vermont Garlic & Herb Festival, Bennington, Vermont  August 31-September 1

An annual festival for garlic-lovers to congregate and sample everything honoring the stinking rose, including garlic soup, garlic hot dogs, garlic ice cream, garlic apple pie and brownies! Voted one of the Top 10 World's Best Garlic Festivals by Reuters. 

4. Taste of Mystic, Mystic, Connecticut  Sept. 6 - 8

Looking for your Mystic pizza? Try out the Taste of Mystic, where the iconic pizza parlor of motion picture fame will share the spotlight with such other favorite dishes as mojo marinated skirt steak, lobster mac & cheese, grilled fish tacos, white cheddar tater tots, waffle cone sundaes and more. Lots of live entertainment, including music, belly dancing and even karate demonstrations at this weekend celebration in historic downtown just past the famous Mystic Drawbridge. Admission is free!

5. San Diego Restaurant Week, San Diego, California   Sept. 15-20

Taste the finest cuisine from 180 of San Diego's top restaurants as they participate in a celebration of the local dining scene with fixed price menus. Two-course lunches and 3-course dinners provide the best of 12 unique regions throughout San Diego County. 

Finish up with the 19th Annual San Diego Beer Festival, Sept. 20 from 6-11pm  with sampling from over 60 different breweries, live music and 3,000 beer lovers sharing Columbia & B Street

6. Chicago Gourmet, Chicago, IL   Sept. 27-19

Presented Bon Appetite this annual event brings top Chef's from Chicago and around the world with live cooking demo's, seminars, tastings and book signings. If you really want to splurge check out the Grand Cru wine tasting which is offering tastings of wines from around the world. 10 international chefs will be pairing global treats with these exquisite wines. You'll be seeing lots of Michellin-starred chefs at this exclusive event.

 

National Chocolate & Dessert Show

7. The National Chocolate and Dessert Show, Chicago, IL (trade only) Oct. 20-22 and the Chicago Fine Chocolate and Dessert Show (Consumers) Oct. 18-22 

Can't get enough chocolate? Then this event is a don't-miss for you.  Featuring fine artisanal chocolate creations from around the world. It's a unique look at the versatility of chocolate and how top chefs and chocolatiers are using incorporating chocolate in a variety of cuisines and culinary techniques. And of course there will be items to sample and purchase. 

Bacon Bash

8. Bacon Bash Hoboken 2013, Hoboken, New Jersey  Sept. 7

Pigs might not fly but they will be honored and tasted at this celebration of all things bacon! Enjoy this "candy of meats" prepared in various ways from edible to drinkable to wearable bacon treats. Come taste the delectable offerings of local restaurants bars and bakeries, including bacon chili, bacon cupcakes, bacon beer, bacon cookies and bacon vodka. Oink!

9. Hawaii Food & Wine Festival, Honolulu, HI  Sept 1 - 9

Dinner galas, demonstrations with local ingredients, and a cooking competition all have a place at this tasteful and tasty gathering. The signature event is the Master Chefs: Around the World with Seven Chefs, a lavish, 6-course dinner with outstanding wine pairings. Celebrity chefs like Grant Achats, Floyd Cardoz, Celestino Drago, Anito Lo, Chris Cosentino, Nobu Matsuhisa and more participate in this star=studded event. 

10. Mistura Festival, Lima, Peru  Sept 6 - 15

This food festival is one of the biggest in the world, with over half a million people attending every year. The Andean specialty roasted guinea pig is a festival highlight, but guests are treated to many other unique dishes such as Peruvian-Chinese chifa cuisine, Afro-Peruvian stews, and fresh ceviches. There are a wide range of venues from festival stalls to fine dining restaurants.
